We thank Emilio Perey who found this rare photograph of Effie on a trip to Paris. It was taken when she was working as an usherette at the Shubert Theatre in New York in 1928.

Effie did embrace the spotlight (and Raoul) and became the sensation of Rio back in the day. Effie and her dance partner, Raoul Jones of Rio de Jeneiro, won the TransAmerican International Grand Ballroom Competition consecutively in 1941 and 1942. They remain close friends.
